In psychology, happiness is defined by frequent positive emotions and in frequent negative ones, while stress, anxiety, and depression are major causes of illness according to the WHO. The relationship between happiness and professional success is complex; while working in a field of interest can initially bring happiness, money quickly becomes a central measure of success. Promotions and bonuses may provide short-term happiness, but the pursuit of new goals soon takes over. Finding a balance between success, happiness, and awareness remains a challenge for many, especially in the modern era.

A key factor in achieving both happiness and success is our ability to stay present and fully aware of what is happening within and around us. This state of mindfulness allows us to respond thoughtfully to situations rather than reacting impulsively, which is often driven by stress or anxiety. This mindful approach to life is sometimes referred to as "Freedom," as it liberates us from automatic, conditioned responses and empowers us to make conscious choices. By cultivating this freedom, we enhance our performance, as we can focus more effectively, make better decisions, and navigate challenges with greater resilience. Ultimately, this mindful presence not only improves our professional outcomes but also contributes to a deeper, more sustained sense of happiness.
